Substance on tongue after piercing?

It is day 3 of having my tongue pierced and I saw it had an orange substance on it, I brushed it off and it has white now and some spots with dry white that seems like the skin changed color. Is this normal? It could be a fungal infection as my mom (a registered nurse) told me. But I have also read it could be from using too much mouthwash.
