Super Smash Bros Brawl lags now even offline?

Today, I moved my wii from my basement up in to my room, and now I notice that, even offline, even using the gamecube controller, I'm experiencing response lag. I press a, my guy punches later, in the menu I move the stick, and the cursor's response is noticeably slower. Any way to remedy this?
